Stoke-on-Trent - A city with a vibrant community of very friendly and enterprising people in Staffordshire...
Wealthy establishments and infrastructure dot the physical landscape...
Upon arrival a few months ago, I observed a strong exodus of youths and most of the active work-force every Friday - and a possible return on Sunday evenings and Monday mornings
Why this, I questioned?
Where are the young vibrant 'movers' and 'shakers' of the economy escaping to every weekend?
Can there be a reversal of this trend? I began to wonder...
Suddenly I realised that there's a more serious issue arising from this systematic but consistent emigration to the major cities - the resulting run down residential communities
In fairness to the Stoke-on-Trent Council, there are efforts - serious efforts to combat this unwholesome housing situation.
Do we all fold our arms and adopt the proverbial 'wait-and-see' attitude?
Unless all hands are back 'on-deck,' some issues may never get addressed: and, the loser is usually the common-man.
Safe neighbourhoods, progressive and vibrant, healthy citizenry means a vibrant economy - to say the least.
When safety is compromised as a result of run-down residential communities, it is often difficult to achieve the healthy citizenry that is everyone's dream.
This study aims to discover the root causes - through interactive engagement with members of the community
Your kind interest in making Stoke-on-Trent City an economically viable and vibrant city of our dreams is most appreciated.
